AI & Synthetic Media Disclosure

Last updated: 19 October 2026

What in a Getuser video is made with AI, how Getuser videos are marked, and what you must do when you post them, so that the people who watch your videos are never misled.

1. The short version

  • The only AI-generated part of a Getuser video is the short reaction shot of a persona: a realistic person who does not exist.
  • Your own footage is never edited by AI, and the line on a video is a filled-in template or your own words. If you ask, AI drafts the words of a slideshow or a caption for your post; you read and edit it before anything is posted (section 7).
  • Getuser videos do not show a visible “AI generated” label. Every video with a persona shot says so in its file metadata, but viewers cannot see that.
  • You must tell viewers when you post: switch on the platform’s AI label every time and, on TikTok, the Your brand content disclosure as well. When Getuser posts a persona video for you, it switches the platform’s AI label on and keeps it on.
  • A persona is a fictional character, never a customer: it must not claim to have used your app, describe results, or say that others use it.
  • You are responsible for every claim your videos make about your app being true.
  • Report misuse, or a persona that looks like you, to legal@getuser.app.

2. What is AI-generated

A Getuser video can open with a short reaction shot, about 2 seconds long, of a persona. The personas are realistic, AI-generated people. They are not real individuals, they are not Getuser’s customers, users or staff, and they have never used your app or any other. They were created with generative AI.

Getuser has a small set of personas (four today), and the same personas appear in videos made by every Getuser customer, so viewers may see the same face in videos about different apps. That is one more reason never to present a persona as a real user of yours.

The personas are not meant to look like any real person. If you think one resembles you or someone you represent, tell us (section 10, “Reporting misuse or a lookalike”). The persona images on Getuser’s own website are AI-generated too, and the website says so under the examples.

3. What is not AI

  • Your footage. Your screen recordings, endings and own hook clips are only trimmed to fit, scaled or cropped to the 9:16 frame (or placed over a blurred copy if they are landscape), re-encoded, and muted by default in the Hook + Demo format, with captions and music laid on top. No AI edits, enhances or alters them.
  • The line on a video. The caption line on a video comes from a fixed library of patterns, filled in with your answers about your app, or it is a line you write yourself. No AI writes or rewrites it.
  • Music. Getuser’s stock music library is paused. Music you upload is your own choice, and must be music you hold the rights to.
  • No AI training. Getuser does not use your uploads, lines or videos to train any AI model.

Apart from the text described in section 7 (“Text written with AI”), Getuser uses no AI to generate or change content. If that ever changes, we will update this page before the feature launches.

4. How Getuser videos are marked

Getuser videos do not carry a visible “AI generated” label on the persona shot. Nothing in the picture tells viewers that the person is AI-generated, so the disclosure they see is the one you switch on when you post (section 5, “What you must do when you post”).

What Getuser adds is a machine-readable mark:

  • Metadata in every file. Every video that contains a persona shot carries a note in its file metadata (the MP4 “comment” field) that reads Contains AI-generated people (Getuser). Getuser writes it automatically, and it cannot be turned off in Getuser.
  • A record of each render. Getuser’s record of how each video was made notes which shots show a persona.
  • Content credentials, later. Content credentials (the C2PA standard), which some platforms read to label AI content automatically, are planned but not added yet. We will update this page when they are.

Metadata has limits. Viewers cannot see it, and many platforms and editing apps drop it when they re-encode a video, so it does not replace your own disclosure.

Why your platform label matters: laws and platform rules require realistic AI-generated people to be disclosed clearly, at the latest when viewers first see them (section 8, “The rules behind this”), and platforms may remove, restrict or label posts that are not. With no label in the picture, the platform’s AI label, or your caption where a platform has none, is how your viewers learn that the person is not real.

Under the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy, you must not remove or change Getuser’s AI metadata, or re-encode or edit a video for that purpose, to hide that it contains AI-generated people. If a platform or an ordinary editing app drops the metadata on its own, that is not a breach, but your duty to disclose stays the same.

5. What you must do when you post

Getuser videos carry no visible AI label, so this step is how your viewers learn that the person is AI-generated. The AI disclosure card in the Studio and each row of your Schedule remind you. Every time you post a Getuser video that shows a persona:

  • TikTok: turn on AI-generated content in the post settings (TikTok’s guide), and turn on Content disclosure, then Your brand, which tells viewers the post promotes your own business (TikTok’s guide).
  • YouTube Shorts: when you upload, answer YouTube’s AI disclosure question (shown as AI use, previously altered or synthetic content) with Yes (YouTube’s guide).
  • Instagram and Facebook: use Meta’s option to add an AI label when you post, so that the post shows AI info.
  • Other platforms: use their AI-content setting if they have one; if not, say so in the caption, for example “AI actor”.

Also:

  • Post from an account that clearly belongs to your app, or say who you are in the caption (for example, “by the team behind” your app’s name, or “#ad”).
  • Do not run an account that pretends a persona is a real person, and do not reply to comments as if the persona were real.
  • Use persona clips for organic posts only. Do not use videos with persona clips in paid ads until Getuser tells you in writing that you may (see the Terms of Service). Once allowed, each ad must itself say clearly that the person is AI-generated, for example on screen or in the ad text, and follow the ad platform’s rules.
  • You may also add your own on-screen note, such as “AI-generated person”, before you post. Disclosing more is always allowed.
  • Follow each platform’s own rules for commercial and branded content.

When Getuser posts for you. If you post to a connected Instagram or TikTok account through Getuser, the publish page switches on the platform’s AI label (Instagram’s AI label; TikTok’s AI-generated content) for every video that shows a persona, and you cannot switch it off there. TikTok requires its commercial-content disclosure to start switched off, so turn on Disclose commercial content and pick Your brand yourself. Everything else on this page still applies.

Platform settings and their names change; check each platform’s current help pages. Getuser is not affiliated with TikTok, Meta or Google.

6. Honest lines: a persona is a character, not a customer

Telling viewers that the person is AI-generated does not make a claim about your app true. So, over a persona shot:

  • No testimonials. The persona must not say or suggest that it used your app, for how long, or what results it got.
  • No false social proof. No claims that other people use, love or are switching to your app, and no invented user numbers, ratings, reviews, rankings or awards.
  • No borrowed authority. The persona must not pose as a doctor, expert, employee or real customer.

Getuser’s built-in lines are written this way: they speak to the viewer (“POV: you…”, “if you keep…”) or react to what is on screen, and never make the person on screen claim that they used the app, for how long, or that others do.

Lines you write yourself are your responsibility. Getuser warns you when a line looks like a health, money, guarantee, ranking, authority or weight-loss claim. Every claim must be true and you must be able to prove it; words such as “#1”, “best” and “only” need evidence.

  • Fine over a persona: “POV: you finally found a budgeting app that doesn’t nag you”, “if you keep forgetting your flashcards, watch this”, “why is nobody talking about this habit tracker”.
  • Not allowed over a persona: “I used this app for a month and saved Rp 5 million”, “all my friends switched to this”, “10,000 people use it every day”, “the #1 app doctors recommend”.

Some claims in the second list can be fine in your own voice, over your own footage, if they are true and you can prove them. They are never fine from a persona.

7. Text written with AI

Two features use AI to write words, and only when you ask:

  • Slideshows. When you create a slideshow, AI writes the words on its slides from the format you picked and your answers about your app. The photos are your own uploads.
  • Captions. On the publish page and in your caption library, AI can draft a caption for your post (an opening line, the text, a closing line, a call to action and hashtags). It writes only the parts you have not locked, in the tone and language you picked.

The AI is GPT-6 Luna from OpenAI, through OpenRouter (see Subprocessors). It receives your answers about your app, the post’s line or slide text and the style you picked, never your files, and may not use them to train its models.

We tell the AI to follow the same honesty rules as our built-in lines: no invented experiences, numbers, ratings, rankings, results or user counts, and no health, money or legal promises. AI-drafted captions that still make such a claim are not offered to you. No check is perfect, so:

  • AI text is a draft. Read it, edit it and correct it before you post. Nothing AI writes is posted without your confirmation.
  • Once you post it, it is yours. You are responsible for AI-written words exactly as for words you wrote yourself (see the Terms of Service).
  • A persona still never speaks as a customer. If a caption or slide sits next to a persona, the rules in section 6 apply to it too.

8. The rules behind this, in plain words

This is a short summary, not legal advice. Which rules apply depends on where your videos are seen.

  • European Union. Since 2 August 2026, the EU AI Act (article 50(4)) has required whoever publishes AI-generated images or video of realistic people that could pass as real (“deep fakes”) to disclose clearly that they are AI-generated, at the latest when people first see them. The Act calls this person the “deployer”; for your posts, that is you, and the platform’s AI label or your caption is how you give the disclosure. It applies when your videos are shown in the EU. Separately, article 50(2) asks providers of AI systems to mark AI output in a machine-readable way; Getuser’s metadata is our step towards that, and content credentials are planned. EU consumer law also bans fake consumer reviews and endorsements, and posing as a consumer.
  • United States. The FTC’s rule on consumer reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465) bans fake testimonials, including ones that misrepresent that the person exists or used the product. Its Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) require an ad that presents people as actual customers either to use actual customers or to say clearly that they are not. Penalties can exceed US$50,000 per violation.
  • New York. Since 9 June 2026, an ad that includes a synthetic performer (a digitally created person) must say so conspicuously in the ad (General Business Law §396-b). A post promoting your own app can count as an ad, so make sure the AI disclosure is clearly visible on such posts.
  • United Kingdom. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 bans fake consumer reviews and falsely posing as a consumer, and the advertising code (CAP Code) requires testimonials to be genuine unless they are obviously fictional.
  • Indonesia. The Consumer Protection Law (UU 8/1999) bans false or misleading offers and ads, including suggesting that a product has someone’s approval or endorsement. The Indonesian Advertising Code of Ethics (Etika Pariwara Indonesia) says a testimonial must be a real person’s real experience, that superlatives such as “number one” need proof, and that ads on personal social media must make clear they are ads. The Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE, art. 28(1)) bans spreading misleading information that harms consumers. The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) is preparing a rule requiring labels on AI-generated content.
  • Platforms. TikTok, Meta and YouTube require realistic AI-generated people to be labelled, and may remove, restrict or label posts that are not.

9. What Getuser does on its side

  • Writes metadata stating that a video contains AI-generated people into every video with a persona shot, and records in each render which shots show a persona.
  • Reminds you to switch on the platform’s AI label, in the Studio’s AI disclosure card and on each row of your Schedule, and switches it on itself, without a way to turn it off, when it posts a persona video for you.
  • Plans to add content credentials (C2PA), and will update this page when it does.
  • Writes its built-in lines so that a persona never claims to be a customer, warns you about risky claims in your own lines, and holds back AI-drafted captions that make claims nobody can back up.
  • Adds no watermark, ad or “made with Getuser” mark to the posts it publishes for you.
  • Uses no AI on your footage and does not train AI on your content.
  • Says on its own website that the people in its examples are AI-generated.
  • Reviews this page when laws or platform rules change.
  • May withdraw a persona for legal reasons. If we do, we will tell you and ask you to stop using videos containing it in future posts.
  • May act on misuse as set out in the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy.

10. Reporting misuse or a lookalike

If you see a Getuser persona used to mislead people (for example presented as a real customer, posted without any AI disclosure, or promoting something the Acceptable Use Policy forbids), or you believe a persona looks like you or someone you represent, write to legal@getuser.app. Include links to the posts, screenshots if you can, and how we can reach you. We treat reports that a persona looks like a real person as urgent.

Getuser publishes only the posts its users confirm and cannot remove posts on other platforms, so please report the post to the platform too. For copyright complaints, see the Copyright policy.

This page is also available in Bahasa Indonesia. For users in Indonesia both versions apply; if they differ, the Indonesian version prevails.
