Copyright, likeness and takedown

Last updated: 19 October 2026

How to tell us that content made with Getuser infringes your copyright, your portrait or likeness, or that an AI persona looks like you, and how users can respond. We review every notice and reply within set times.

1. The short version

The essentials:

  • Send notices to copyright@getuser.app, in English or Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Files in Getuser are private, and Getuser posts only what a user confirms to their own connected account, so a video you have seen online was posted by, or at the instruction of, a Getuser user. Report it to the platform too: only the platform can take the post down.
  • We acknowledge notices within 3×24 hours, and complaints that a persona looks like a real person within 1×24 hours.
  • If a notice is valid, we remove the material from Getuser, tell the user, and can ask them to take down their posts.
  • Users can send a counter-notice if they believe we made a mistake.
  • We close the accounts of repeat infringers.
  • AI personas are not meant to look like anyone real. If one looks like you, tell us and we will act quickly.

This summary does not replace the policy. Where it differs from the full text below, the full text applies.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers complaints that something uploaded to Getuser, made with Getuser or posted by a Getuser user infringes:

  • copyright or related rights, for example in music, footage, images, fonts or software interfaces;
  • the right to one’s portrait or likeness, including the use of someone’s face or voice without consent; or
  • the rights of a person who believes that one of Getuser’s AI personas resembles them.

It is our notice-and-action process under Indonesian law, under the EU Digital Services Act where it applies and, once we have designated an agent, under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act. For other breaches of our rules, such as misleading claims or a persona presented as a real person, see the Acceptable Use Policy.

Where content lives. Uploads and videos in Getuser are private to the account that made them. Users download their videos and post them themselves, or have Getuser publish the posts they confirm to their own connected Instagram or TikTok account. We can remove material from Getuser, stop scheduled posts and act on the user’s account, but we cannot remove a post from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or any other platform. For that, use the platform’s own reporting tool as well.

Our own library. The persona clips and any library music are Getuser’s own responsibility. If your complaint is about them, we deal with it directly, as the party responsible for those assets.

3. How to send a notice

Email copyright@getuser.app, in English or Bahasa Indonesia, with:

  • your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address and, if you act for someone else, whom you represent and your authority to do so;
  • the work or right you say is infringed: for copyright, the work itself (with a link or a copy where possible); for a portrait or likeness, who is shown and how you are connected to them;
  • the material you are complaining about, in enough detail for us to find it: a link to the post, a copy or screenshot of the video, and anything that helps us identify the Getuser account involved;
  • why you believe the material infringes your rights and, if you have it, evidence of ownership, such as a copyright recordation certificate (surat pencatatan ciptaan) from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI); recordation is not needed for copyright to exist;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law;
  • a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them (for notices under US law, made under penalty of perjury); and
  • your physical or electronic signature (a typed full name is enough).

If something is missing, we will ask you for it; we may be unable to act on an incomplete notice. For likeness complaints we may ask for proof of identity, which we use only to handle your complaint.

4. What happens after a notice

  • Acknowledgement. We confirm receipt within 3×24 hours (1×24 hours for persona likeness complaints).
  • Review. A person reviews the notice. We aim to decide within 7 days of receiving a complete notice, and sooner where the harm is serious.
  • Action. If the notice is valid, we remove or disable the material in Getuser and may restrict the account. Where needed, we ask the user to remove posts containing the material and to stop using it.
  • Telling the user. We tell the user what we did, why, and how they can respond. We usually send them a copy of the notice, which may include your name and contact details so that they can respond or contact you. If you have a safety concern, say so in your notice, and we will consider withholding your details where the law allows.
  • Telling you. We tell you what we decided and why.

If we decide not to act, we explain why. You can still take the matter to the platform, the competent authorities or the courts.

5. If your material was removed: counter-notice

If we removed your material and you believe that was a mistake, for example because you own it, hold a licence or the use is permitted by law, you can send a counter-notice to copyright@getuser.app within 30 days. Include:

  • your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address;
  • the material that was removed and where it was in Getuser before removal;
  • why you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentified, with any licence or other evidence;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification (for counter-notices under US law, made under penalty of perjury);
  • for counter-notices under US law, your consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal district court for the district where your address is or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Getuser may be found, and your agreement to accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent; and
  • your physical or electronic signature.

We send the counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Under the US procedure, we restore the material within 10 to 14 business days unless that person tells us that they have started court proceedings. Under Indonesian law, we review the counter-notice on its merits and tell both sides our decision. If the disagreement continues, it is for the parties to resolve, for example through mediation or, for copyright, before the Commercial Court (Pengadilan Niaga) (UU 28/2014 Art 95). We may keep the material disabled while a court or authority considers the matter.

6. False or abusive notices

Only send a notice or counter-notice if you believe it is accurate. Under US law (17 U.S.C. §512(f)), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material infringes, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. A knowingly false notice may also be unlawful under Indonesian law.

After a warning, we may stop processing notices from anyone who repeatedly sends notices that are clearly unfounded.

7. Repeat infringers

In appropriate circumstances, we close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe other people’s rights. As a rule:

  • each valid notice about material in an account counts as one strike, unless a counter-notice succeeds;
  • a strike expires 12 months after it is given;
  • an account that receives three strikes within 12 months is closed; and
  • we may close an account at once for a flagrant or deliberate infringement, such as uploading a whole film or album, or using a real person’s likeness to deceive.

We tell the user each time they receive a strike. A person whose account was closed for repeat infringement may not open a new one.

8. Portraits and likeness

Under Indonesian copyright law, commercial use of a person’s portrait, including in advertising, requires the written consent of the person portrayed or their heirs (UU 28/2014 Art 12; Art 115 sets the penalty). Our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy require users to have that consent for everyone who appears in their uploads.

If your face, voice or name appears in a video made with Getuser without your consent, for example in a user’s own hook clip or screen recording, send a notice as described above. We handle it in the same way as a copyright notice. Where your complaint also concerns your personal data, you can use your rights as the Privacy Policy explains.

9. If an AI persona looks like you

Getuser’s personas are generated by AI and are not meant to depict or resemble any real person. If you believe that a persona looks like you, or like someone you represent, we treat it as urgent.

Write to copyright@getuser.app with the subject “Persona likeness” (reports sent to legal@getuser.app reach us too), and include your contact details, the persona or video you mean (a link or a screenshot is enough), and one or more photos or links that show the resemblance. We use this information only to handle your complaint, and delete it when we no longer need it.

We acknowledge within 1×24 hours. While we review, we may stop offering the persona for new videos. If we find a real risk that people will take the persona for you, we withdraw it from Getuser, ask users to stop using videos that contain it and, where appropriate, to remove existing posts, and tell you what we have done.

To report a persona that is being presented as a real person, for example as a genuine customer, use the reporting route in the Acceptable Use Policy. The AI disclosure page explains how personas are made and how Getuser videos are marked.

10. Music

Getuser’s stock music library is paused until its tracks are licensed for use in downloaded videos on every platform. Users may upload their own music, and must hold the rights to do so. If your music was used without permission in a video made with Getuser, send a notice as described above.

Claims made through a platform’s own systems, such as Content ID or audio muting, are handled by that platform.

11. Orders from authorities and courts

We comply with lawful orders to remove or disable access to content, or to provide information, from Indonesian authorities, including the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) under the rules for private electronic system operators, and from courts, within the time limits the law sets. Where the law allows, we tell the user concerned.

Authorities can reach us at legal@getuser.app.

12. United States: the DMCA

The US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512) gives online service providers a notice and counter-notice procedure for material that users upload. To rely on it, a provider must designate an agent with the US Copyright Office.

Getuser has not designated an agent yet. We will designate one, and publish the agent’s details on this page, before we market Getuser to users in the United States. Until then, send notices about US rights to copyright@getuser.app; we handle them under this policy, following the DMCA notice and counter-notice steps described above.

The DMCA procedure covers material that users upload. Getuser’s own library assets are our direct responsibility, as explained under “What this policy covers”.
